Raised Sunni Muslim in the city, Nur knows very well the struggle of poverty, discrimination, and how to find resilience and celebration as part of survival. As a self-taught artist, Laila Nur played her first show in 2010, just months after picking up a guitar. Today, she is one of North Carolina's most innovative & groundbreaking artists, with her charged lyrical content and experimental style.
